Triacastela to Sarria

Today was my 3rd day on the trail (Jenny’s 4th!) and boy did I feel it! A little more sore throughout the day but I’m at about 54 miles total so far. We had some “bonus” miles today too from exploring a different route before we looked at the map! Weather continued to be rainy off and on so I thought I would share what the trail looks like…picture tons of mud with lots of cow dung mixed in! Just be thankful these photos aren’t in smell-a-vision. We went through many stinky farming villages today. In all seriousness, the trail can be cobblestone, rock, asphalt paved roads, mud/dirt, gravel, etc…The first photo shows the trail markings we follow which are the Camino shell and/or yellow arrow.

Two strong pilgrims

The rain was a bit challenging today but we did a good job of staying positive. We reminded ourselves as we took this photo at the top of a long steep section that we are strong pilgrims.

The animals…of course

Lots of fun animal sightings today. Sleeping Mama cow and her baby were so sweet.

Lunch

We decided around mile 10 to stop on the trail for lunch. It was a simple ham and cheese sandwich with a coke but boy did it taste good! Sometimes it’s the little things. I laughed at the bathroom doors. There are cigarette machines in almost all the bars/restaurants.

Arriving in Sarria

We arrived in Sarria by 3 pm and were welcomed at a very nice hotel. My room is on the 6th floor with its own roof top mini balcony with incredible city views. We went Italian for dinner and as you can see Jenny was loving it! I was in heaven too. So good. I followed up. with gelato for dessert because my daily step count says it was approved!
