Portomarin to Palas de Rei

Another sunshiny day but still haven’t seen a sunrise yet as it was fogged in at the start of the day. Nevertheless, grateful for the sun today even though it started with temps in the low 40s. One of the big stops of the day was Castro de Castromaior shown below. It is one of the most important archaeological sites of the northern peninsula. It was inhabited from S IV BC to the 1 AD. Three different occupations took place here with the latest being at the beginning of the Roman conquest.

Outdoor lunches

Most days we stop for lunch at one of the outdoor “bars” which serve a variety of things from snacks, sandwiches, salads, ice cream, etc. We met the mother-daughter duo (Betsy and Sophia) the other night at dinner and have crossed paths daily since. Betsy has been walking the full Camino Frances route and her daughter joined her for the last 100+ km. They are from Michigan.

Chapel stop

There are so many churches along the route but we stopped at this one (please forgive me, I don’t remember the name) for a moment of solitude and prayer. Such a kind gentleman working inside the church who gave us hugs and wished us Buen Camino. I lit another candle today.

How I feel tonight! Please pray for us as tomorrow will be a challenging day with over 18 miles to walk and our bodies are growing weary.
