The journey has begun as I left home this week and will board a flight to Spain tomorrow (hopefully...fingers crossed with the major power outage that occurred in Spain this week). I am filled with nervous excitement. I will be embarking on a journey that takes me to new places (my first European trip) and activities that will push me out of comfort zone (walking 128 miles in less than 10 days). My intention is to share my daily journey via the Adventures tab on this site as time and Wi-Fi allow. Please check back as you like over the next two weeks in the Adventures section as I won't be sending update emails. I hope you will enjoy coming with me "along the way!"
Here's a little information about the blog photo. As a hospice volunteer, I have the privilege of meeting weekly with a patient who is a retired Catholic priest. While he is now 96 years young, he is still filled with spunk, a sound mind, and wisdom. He is amazing. He is one of the kindest souls I have met and in the short time we have known one another, he has blessed my life greatly. I believe he is as almost as excited about my Camino journey as I am. On our most recent visit, he asked to say a blessing for my journey. I was honored. As he held my Camino shell symbolizing my pilgrim status and said a blessing, I was reminded that while I will be physically completing the journey I will also be taking along others through spirit and prayer. He states he has regrets that he never made this journey citing schedules being too busy even though he lived and attended seminary in France. My dear priest friend is anxiously awaiting to hear about my trip when I return and see photos. Of course I can't wait to share and unpack all that is to come during my Camino journey.
Buen Camino!
